Purpose
The Ajalon Group is dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals and the structures of society, by offering a variety of educational and artistic programs. We are committed to nurturing individuals from a holistic perspective, exploring connections between spirit, mind and body.

Programs
Our educational efforts primarily involve leading classes and directing retreats for adults. Our artistic endeavors include sponsoring concerts and exhibits, providing a showcase for musicians, photographers and other artisans. In offering each of these programs, our intent is for participants to discover new ways of seeing themselves and the world in which they live.

Funding
The Ajalon Group is organized as a not-for-profit corporation and receives funding from a variety of sources. We ask participants to pay reasonable fees to attend programs and events. We are pleased to receive donations from individuals and organizations that support our activities; donations are tax-deductible. We also seek funding from foundations and other philanthropic sources that share similar interests.

Proceeds may be used to offset program expenses and/or go toward purchasing a track of land to be developed as a retreat center and nature preserve. Our hope is to provide a place and create opportunities for people to experience a sense of refreshment.

About the word "Ajalon"
"Ajalon" is a variation of a Hebrew word that means "place of gazelles." According to Judeo-Christian scripture, Ajalon is a place where:

"...Joshua spoke to the Lord; and [the Lord] said in the sight of Israel, 'Sun, stand still in Gibeon, and Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.' And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped...The sun stopped in midheaven, and did not hurry to set for about a whole day. There had been no day like it before or since, when the Lord heeded a human voice; for the Lord fought for Israel." (Joshua 10:12-14, NRSV)

It is our hope that God will continue to respond to human voices and efforts, so that together we may bring about peace and justice.
